When NowMD is unable to connect to the database server, there are two main causes:
  • A physical connection issue.
    • Make sure the affected computer is connected to the network.  Be sure to check all cables and connections to any appliance such as a router or switch.  Test by navigating to File Explorer>Network. Make sure all computers in the network appear.
  • Windows Firewall or other third party software is blocking ports 22008-22010.
    • Temporarily disable the Windows firewall as well as any other third party anti-virus, firewall or anti-malware program. Then try to launch NowMD. Caution:  Do not leave anti-virus or firewall software/settings in a disabled state for an extended period of time.
Still unable to connect to the database server? Try Stopping and Starting the Arsenal Database Server from Windows Services:
How to navigate to the Windows Services snap in:
  • Hold down the following two keys (Windows + R).  A run box will open.
  • Type services.msc in the open box and then press the enter key on the keyboard.  The Windows Services screen will open.
  • Choose the Arsenal Database Server (from the list of services) and click/tap only one time.
  • Next, locate the Start link to the upper left of the list of services. Note that if the Arsenal Database Server is already running, you will see two links-Stop and Restart.
  • Choose either Start or Restart.
  • Once the action completes or fails, choose Restart.
Still unable to connect to the database server? Try Stopping and Starting the Arsenal Database Server manually from a command prompt:
How to obtain the command prompt screen:
  • Hold down the following keys (Windows + R).  A run box will open.
  • Type CMD in the open box and then press the enter key on the keyboard.  The command prompt box (black box) will open.
  • From a command prompt, type the following:  net stop "arsenal database server"  Then press the enter key on you keyboard.
  • Next, from a command prompt, type the following:  net start "arsenal database server" .
  • In each case you will see a message displayed indicating that the arsenal database server has stopped or started to confirm the action completed.

NOTE:  Be sure to respect the required spaces and quotation marks, ie:   net (space) stop (space) "arsenal (space) database (space) server"

After following the steps outlined above, if you are still unable to connect to the database server; it's time to call our support department for a diagnosis.
