Is there a way to make a default location for the patient and not the doctor in a patient's record? The doctor goes from nursing home to nursing home and in the encounter section you have to go under illness to select the facility. The current default for all patients is the rendering provider. This works if the patient comes to your office, but we need to make the nursing facility default.

There is not a way to default a service facility to a provider or patient BUT you can copy an existing encounter and the facility will remain for the copied encounter.

Can the patient table be altered so that it can be a selected field in the patient's info?

The provider is set in the Encounter. Setting this field then copying the encounter is how this can be done. The provider is also set in the patient record.

The Facility location can only be set in the encounter.
